We have some very exciting news to share with everyone! We finally are able
to complete the circle from pasture to plate!
Since last September we have been harvesting and processing through our own,
certified organic facility "Chilcotin Harvest" which is located on the
Ranch. Jakob, the chief butcher (Swiss trained) has been very busy creating
a line of traditionally cured and dried meats as well as an array of
sausages and deli meats. The facility is using certified organic spices only
and the best of sea salt. And in true Pasture to Plate tradition no fillers,
nitrates or nitrites are used in any of our products. Meats are available
for purchase from Ethical Kitchen (1600 Mckay Rd, N. Vancouver, 604 988
6280); at Controversial Kitchen (1420 Commercial Drive, 604 254 6101) and
Drive Organics on Commercial Drive.
In stock we have all the beef, lamb and pork as well as the pastured
chickens, ducks and geese. For larger orders please call 604 988 6280.
We also welcome Danu as the full time representative for Pasture to Plate
here in Vancouver and the lower Mainland. He can be reached at 604-341-6455
or [email protected]

The Weston A Price Chapter is hosting an evening event on Tuesday the 9th of
February at the Ethical Kitchen, 7pm. We will be showing the film
"Ingredients" which discusses trans fats in food. There will be a simple
organic dinner available for purchase and a discussion after the film.
Please call 604 988 6280 to make your reservations.

The Weston A Price Chapter potluck will be held on Tuesday the 16th at 7pm
at the Ethical Kitchen. At this event we will be discussing the resource
guide for the Vancouver area. This guide will be published and made
available to anyone interested in eating well in Vancouver. As chapter
leader it is my job to compile great resources and list them. Everyone
however has a wealth of sources and information that will be valuable so I
would like to make this a group effort and ask everyone to bring the
following: your 'secret' sources for nutrient dense foods
a list of the things you would like to source
This is a social event and a great way to introduce newcomers to the
traditional diet principles. For us to accommodate the group as comfortably
as possible we do need to know whether you will be attending and with how
many people.

News from the Ethical Kitchen: We have been putting some focus on expanding
our selection of fermented foods and beverages. We will soon be offering a
variety of water kefirs to compliment our standard drinks: kombucha,
hibiscus cooler and gingerale. New products are arriving to bulk up our
retail shelves this month. We will be carrying the Golden Olive Eleni
organic olive oil products, raw honey, artisan beeswax candles, seeds from
West Coast Seeds and many more specialties. We have a new shipment of Green
Pastures nutritional products arriving this week! While yuo're here you
might want to sample the new Pasture to Plate cured meats.
Our winter hours: 9 am to 6 pm Tuesday to Friday and 10 to 5 on Saturdays.

The Controversial Kitchen: for those of you unfamiliar with our new 'baby'
you will be happy to know we now have a presence on the Drive as well. The
Controversial Kitchen (restaurant and retail food outlet) opened in October
and is also an outlet for the Pasture to Plate meats. The menu is different
and we specialize in the best sandwiches on the Drive! There is live music
in the afternoons most weekends and it's a great place to come and enjoy a
nutrient dense meal, pick up some supplies and enjoy the bustle of the
street. We're at 1420 Commercial Drive, close to 1st.
Contact my sister Fiona (manager) at 604 254 6101.
Hours are from 9 to 6 daily.

That covers all the news so enjoy your day and hope to see you soon.
Blessings and good food,

Barbara Schellenberg
